Volunteering

St. Margaret's House Settlement gives you lots of opportunities to get involved in your community, help out and gain new skills and experience by volunteering with us. We have a long history of working with volunteers, and depend on their support for many of our projects.

Our volunteer programme currently consists of:

  • The Gallery Cafe - We are currently looking for volunteers to help us out in the café both front of house and in the kitchen. Duties might involve: food prep, washing up or serving front of house, working on the counter, clearing tables, or making coffee. Slots are available for weekdays, weekday evenings, and weekends.
  • Ayoka Charity Boutique - Volunteers are needed to help with the day-to-day running of our charity boutique, including serving customers, having some responsibility for shop layout and stock, and possibly contributing ideas for business development and events (such as clothes swaps, etc.). We are looking for part time and full time volunteers including weekdays and weekends, according to your availability.

  • African Women's Welfare Association (AWWA)- General office volunteer required for 2-3 hours a day for two days a week. Click here for more information about AWWA.

For all of our volunteering opportunities we reimburse food and travel expenses.

We have recently implemented a reward and recognition scheme for our volunteers, and award them with certificates to acknowledge their acheivements and the skills they have gained during their time with us. These are issued to volunteers who have been with us for 25 hours, 50 hours and 75 hours.

As a way of thanking our volunteers for all of their hard work, we also organise regular socials for them and our staff.

If you are interested in joining any of our volunteer projects, please contact our volunteer coordinator Zoe: 020 8980 2092/zoe@stmargaretshouse.org.uk
