About The Gallery Café
We offer a delicious selection of vegan and vegetarian food, an exciting program of live events, and a new art exhibition from an up-and-coming artist every month. The Gallery Cafe is a cosy sanctuary during the winter months, and comes alive in the summer with its sun trap terrace and garden, making it a great spot to enjoy all year round.
We host a variety of live music nights, film screenings, comedy, and spoken word events throughout the year, as well as one-off festivals and special seasons. Most of our events are free and accessible for everyone, and those that we do charge for will always be very reasonably priced.
As one of the community projects run by St. Margaret’s House, all profit generated by The Gallery Cafe goes back into the charity. So by dining with us, you are also helping to support the local community.
All our food is made in-house and almost any item on our menu can be served as a vegan option. We use locally sourced, seasonal ingredients wherever possible and our regular menu is supplemented with a rotating selection of freshly made daily specials. During the week we offer a variety of themed menus, including Diner Night on Tuesdays and Chip Shop Night on the last Thursday of every month.
We’re committed to making delicious food that proves that a vegan diet doesn’t mean missing out on your favourite dishes.
All our packaging is 100% recyclable, so if you're in a hurry you can pick up your food to go. We endeavour to recycle as much as possible and will soon be composting too. To reduce our carbon footprint we also use local suppliers.
We are passionate about providing fresh food and top quality ingredients through local suppliers. Our bread is delivered by bicycle, and comes from a local artisan baker. Our delicious coffee is roasted just down the road and we are also now sourcing our veggies from Old Spitalfields market. We continue to stock beer brewed across the street and as the area attracts more and more new enterprises, we prioritise supporting other local businesses, which reduces our carbon footprint at the same time. We are using organic milk and continue to stock Teapigs, an ethically responsible brand of tea.
Many of our suppliers are local and within a mile radius of St. Margaret’s House. Our coffee is from Allpress based on Redchurch Street where they roast their beans. We also get bread from London Fields’ E5 bakery, so look out for their logo when they cycle over as their bread is delicious.
The Gallery Cafe lives up to its name by holding monthly art exhibitions as part of the Time Out First Thursdays initiative. We also offer an exciting program of music, poetry and cinema events.
