Looking at Art
1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month at 11.30am
The Create Place, 29 Old Ford Rd
Tracing the various developments in art form from the earliest cave paintings through to recent times. All welcome.
In recent sessions we have, after previously looking at the Ancient World, been seeing how its influences have affected the Renaissance in the 15th and 16th centuries. At present we are looking at work by Leonardo, Michelangelo and Raphael before, without the need for expensive air travel, moving on to Venice to look at Titian as well as some lesser known artists.
My approach is that of a painter - we look at work in a way that enables us to get more out of our present surroundings as well as visiting galleries. Speaking of galleries, we have visited the British Museum and the National Gallery to look at work at first hand.
