7PM - 9PM | CHAPEL | FREE
Capital Letters seeks to explore the potential of poetry in progress. CapLet is about reading, discussion, and performance of experimental poetry. This March continues, with Sonia Quintero.
Sonia Quintero, a Colombian poet and writer who has lived in London for seven years. Sonia has published two books of poetry, and is currently working on two more books, one in English, one in Spanish. She has participated in art exhibitions as an artist, curator and organiser in Colombia and in England, is a weekly contributor to ExpressNews a Latin American newspaper, and is a participant in the Truth, Memory and Reconciliation Commission of Colombian women. Sonia has represented Colombia at the XII International book fair in Lawrence, Massachusetts, October 2017.
Sonia’s journey to learn the language and now write in English inspires her work with people who face barriers in access and learning in the contemporary city. She is the founder and organiser of Stratford Poetry Group, an inclusive initiative that welcomes and supports people from all walks of life, offers a safe space where participants feel valued, inspired, respected and seen, and where they all have a chance to creatively express their feelings, thoughts and opinions using a range of artistic outlets.
