Thomas James Smith is a London based artist who is inspired by influences as diverse as MC Escher, Leonardo Da Vinci, Buddhist art and psychedelic album covers. There is a surreal, child like wonder to his illustrations which are rendered, for the most part in meticulously detailed pen work.
Tom studied at Chelsea school of art and LCC before joining an art collective called DA! who create exhibitions, community centres and free schools. The collective was featured in Timeout magazine and the Guardian and had more than a thousand attendees on the opening night of the exhibition in 2009 which included a 10 foot sculpture of a trojan horse, created by Tom.
Currently, the artist is working on commissions from bands, brands and individuals. He hopes to use his art to positively impact peoples lives.
