Blue in Green returns to our cafe once again for another night of live jazz from emerging musicians with art materials provided for the audience to create work in response to the music. Everyone is welcome.
Our March special guest will be Howl Quartet, a two-saxophone-led jazz quartet that write original melodies over standard chord progressions. Taking inspiration from the contrafact writing of Lee Konitz and Warne Marsh, Howl Quartet look to create beautiful and surprising pathways through traditional harmony. Comprising of graduates of Royal Academy of Music and Royal Welsh College, Harry Brunt, Dan Smith, Pete Komor and Matt Parkinson have been performing regularly on the London scene for 3 years. The have been writing collectively since the beginning of 2018 with the shared ambition to dig deeper into the tradition of the music and to understand the strength of a 'line' in a more thorough way.
