Art & Travel is the recent work of Portuguese José Custódio and Austrian Isabel Seda who together form the artist collaboration Miel&Bel. The exhibition presents a symbiotic relationship which explores and experiments moving in different cultures of India and Nepal, visualising what is seen and felt into pieces of art.
Concerned with destructive mass-tourism and the trend of looking at the world through smart technology and social media, this journey saw the artists only equipped with an analog camera, pens and sketchbooks. Traveling for seven months and 6000 miles, the low-budget journey developed into an art project and the impressions and emotions of the travelers became visible on the pages of their books.
The exhibition documents their experiences and findings through detailed illustrations; reflecting confrontations with death and birth, extreme poverty, natural catastrophes, and sincere hospitality of natives giving them an intimate insight into their living condition, spirituality and rituals.
Join the artists at the exhibition opening where they will talk about their unique travel experiences and share the origins of the inspirations that they found along the way. The event will also have a pop-up shop of the artists prints and postcards, as well as imaginative improvisations from members of the fantastic Don Kipper.
