The Nightjar

“Gorgeous” – The Late Junction, BBC Radio 3

“Ghostly, psychedelic and utterly addictive” – Boiler Room

“Haunted folk with a stark, phantom-like feel, the group fuse skeletal arrangements with a powerfully literate lyrical sense” – Clash Music

The Nightjar last played a spellbinding set at The Gallery Cafe in 2015 with Folklore promotions. Since then their first full-length album, ‘Objects’, was released in March 2017 on Pear O’ Legs Records and can be heard here.

The raw intensity of their performance has brought audiences to a stand-still, not only at our venue but across France, Germany and the rest of UK as well. Their reputation as a must-see live band is ever growing and this will be the only London date of their Autumn 2017 tour.

Drawing influence from the lo-fi wooze of Grouper, the stark and poignant balladry of Diane Cluck and the deft compositions of Colleen, The Nightjar use close-harmonies, tight-interlocking guitars, deep bass and an intense lead vocal to paint fragile, haunting landscapes.

The band will be supported by a new project, comprising of artists Samantha Whates and Josienne Clarke (of BBC award winning folk duo, Josienne Clarke and Ben Walker) which is guaranteed to be a mesmerising set in itself. The duo have been recording their debut EP over this summer and this gig will be your chance to catch this new material before anyone else.
