“The heart is like a garden. It can grow compassion or fear, resentment or love. What seeds will you plant there?” (Jack Cornfield)
In the challenging times in which we live, it is more important than ever to treat ourselves with kindness and compassion. And to offer this to all those around us, both those we know and love and equally to those we don’t, as everyone is navigating their own individual or collective trials in this life. During this afternoon workshop we will spend time really slowing down, giving ourselves space and time to simply be and finding a deep inner stillness in both the body and mind. This gentle practice will focus on opening the heart-centre, physically, emotionally and energetically. Many of us are holding a lot of emotions that need to be given space to be processed and released, which a yin practice allows us to do. The workshop will also enable you to release deeply held physical and mental tensions, rest and renew and be kind to yourself. Yin is a slower, more passive and stationary style of yoga, during which floor-based postures are held for a longer period of time, helping to slowly open and release tight areas of the body, and also enabling energy to flow more freely through the body. The time we spend in the yin yoga postures is also perfect for quiet contemplation and for developing a sense of inner mental calm and clarity. We will take the stillness and peace created during these poses into a simple loving-kindness meditation practice in the final part of the afternoon, and finish with a long, nourishing guided relaxation in the form of yoga Nidra.
You will leave feeling both deeply relaxed, with a sense of inner stillness peace and contentment. The workshop is open to everybody, including complete beginners to yoga and meditation. “You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.” Buddha
