Healthy, seasonal, sustainable…and creative
The Gallery Cafe is 100% plant-based, serving breakfast and lunch daily. The Italian and Bangladeshi heritages of our kitchen team inform an exciting menu, with a focus on creating delicious, sustainable food. We offer affordable vegan dishes, locally-ground coffee and delicious homemade sweet treats.
As our name suggests, we’re a gallery! We have a rolling programme of exhibitions by local and creative health focused artists. Enjoy your food and drinks surrounded by art or in the oasis of our beautiful garden.
We host a monthly Art Cafe, D/deaf Cafe and Open Mic night, as well as one-off events and workshops. Our events are free or affordably priced to make sure they are accessible to all.
The kitchen serves breakfast 9am-12noon (until 1pm at the weekend), followed by lunch until 4pm. The coffee machine goes off at 4.30pm so get your hot drinks orders in before then. We don’t take advanced bookings. Card payments only. Dog friendly.

Healthy and Sustainable
Veganism is part of building a more sustainable future and since we opened in 2006 we’ve celebrated the benefits of a plant-based lifestyle.
If you’re new to the vegan movement, we show how small changes to your life can make a big difference.
We’re also reducing food waste by ensuring everything is recycled or turned into biofuel or compost for our garden.

"London's best vegan brunch"

50 Best breakfast places in the UK
Heaven for arts-loving meat-haters and easy on the wallet, the Gallery Cafe is part of Bethnal Green’s St Margaret’s House community project, which hosts art exhibitions, film screenings, live music, spoken-word nights and comedy performances, as well as festivals and arts-and-crafts workshops. In addition to the oh-so-fashionable avocado on sourdough toast, hot vegan options include a full English with vegan sausage and scrambled tofu. Alternatively, how about a quesadilla – a tortilla wrap filled with refried beans, vegan cheese, tomato, vegan sour cream and wilted spinach or scrambled tofu?

Awesome vegan restaurants recommended by London vegans
Out in Bethnal Green, you’ll find the community and charity hub known as St Margaret’s House. Here, you can do yoga or take an art class, but we’d recommend heading straight to the cafe. Start with breakfast – either the vegan full English or a stack of American-style pancakes should do nicely – and watch it get better from there. Absolutely everything here is vegan, so kiss a not-so-fond goodbye to the days of going off-menu!

The UK's best restaurant destinations for veggie and vegan brunches
There's little not to love about this vegan not-for-profit cafe in Bethnal Green. The food is superb, covering everything from a Full English vegan breakfast with hash browns and scrambled tofu to fiery breakfast quesadillas and of course, pizza - with vegan cheese.

Top 10: Dairy-free breakfasts in London
The Gallery Cafe is a neighbourhood restaurant everyone wishes they had on their doorstep. The menu is easy to navigate with all allergens listed. Come and taste one of the best brunches in London. These guys offer a great Full English and I had a fantastic Vegan Breakfast Quesadilla - yes vegan cheese has come a long way too. No problems for gluten-free vegans here, their Chai cupcake and brownie bites were some of the best cafe food I've had in a long time.

Best vegan brunches in London
This welcoming cafe in Bethnal Green is relaxed and a bit rough around the edges in a good way. The 'signature' - sourdough toast with tofu scramble, spinach and garlic mushrooms - is the one to order, but if it's sold out (as it regularly does) the 'lighter breakfast' does a similar job - swap spinach for tomatoes.
