A gentle, welcoming space to write freely, connect deeply and grow your poetry in community
This bi-monthly workshop series will focus on your poetic development and creating meaningful connections across backgrounds/disciplines in an interactive, low-pressure environment. Basic outline: group arrival, tea & biscuits, go through the topic/ area of focus that week & accompanying micro-lesson, get to writing, share & make connections with fellow participants.
The main goals of this series are to break down insecurity, embrace imperfection, and build community along the way. The classes can be a one-off or a chance to build via previous attendance. Think new-pathways, community, growth, queer-friendly, and pure fun.
What does Lost in the Foxglove mean?: Foxglove flowers represent the ethereal, double meanings, pride, and creativity. We want to let ourselves explore the potential of ‘what if’ and create as a new pathway develops rather than focusing on where we will end up.
These workshops operate as phase one of a two phase process.: “First Write” to “First Read”. Attendees will be able to write in their personal style on a bi-weekly basis, and later have the opportunity to perform on stage at seasonal open mic events.
***Previously featured on BBC Radio 1, LOOSE.FM, at the Art and Cultural Management Conference in Vienna. Collaborated with Queer Love Co. (previously known as A Whole Orange Matchmaking), and the Vagina Museum.
About Lauren
My name is Lauren Bulla. I am a poet, writer, digital & acrylic artist based in North London. I originally moved to England in 2021 to pursue a masters degree in international human rights law.
It’s easy for us to bypass hopes of creation as it feels much of it will never lead us anywhere. I want to challenge the voice in my head telling me to stop trying - my events and artworks are a reflection of this effort, that which I hope translates into the lives of my participants.
Much of my work is inspired by life's larger questions - namely the contradiction and overlapping of "fate versus coincidence". Though this is often the baseline of many of my works, I also draw inspiration from everyday monsters, queer nightlife, interpersonal relationships, the natural world, and the liminality of our dreams.
