Young Voices
Issues Impacting Young People Today
The Young Voices exhibition showcases the multi-media works of the young people who took part in Headliners (UK) projects during 2022 and 2023. Exploring themes of mental health, discrimination, and environmentalism, the works provide a first-hand account of the youth's experiences. Created by young people, for young people, the works encourage the viewer to see the world from a new perspective and challenge the world around them.

Curated by Eliza Stone, St. Margaret’s House Art Curator
Headliners (UK) is a London-based national charity that empowers young people aged 8-25 years to raise their voice and tell their stories through multi-media content creation. Storytelling is at the heart of all they do, and they encourage young people to explore their narratives in a creative way that highlights their personality and interests.
London Green Champions
London Green Champions is a project for young people ages 11-25, living in underserved London communities.
The project aims to empower young people’s presence in London’s Green Spaces, using multi-media and social action to share their concerns and advocate change in their local communities.
As part of the project, young people from Hackney, Islington and Lewisham have been exploring their connection to nature, sharing their climate concerns and discovering ways they can make a difference.
With special thanks to the Jack Petchey Foundation and National Lottery Community Fund for making these sessions possible.
Breaking Through the Headlines
Breaking Through the Headlines is a project for young people aged 12-25 and living in Tower Hamlets.
This project aims to empower young people to understand intolerance and the ability to recognise toxic language and behaviour. The project consists of three modules: How language can divide us, Living in the wider world, and breaking through the headlines. All young people work towards creating multi-media stories on themes of discrimination, grooming and extremism.
Over the past year, Headliners (UK) have worked with young people from Spotlight, New City College Tower Hamlets, New City College Attlee Academy, and Langdon Park to produce podcasts and documentaries on topics ranging from extremist misogyny to the representation of young people in the media.
With special thanks to the Tower Hamlet’s Prevent team for making these sessions possible.
Safe Spaces London
Safe Spaces is a project for young people aged 12-25 and living in Tower Hamlets.
The project educates and empowers young people to better understand their mental health and emotional wellbeing, focusing on topics of importance to the group. As a youth-led project, the young people’s voices are at the heart of the project. Headliners (UK) provide young people with a platform to develop their voice and catalyse their interest in the community.
Alongside creating media outputs, these young people work towards OCN accreditation in journalism based skills such as photography, interviewing and more.
With special thanks to the Edward Gostling Foundation for making these sessions possible.
