Join us in the SMH Garden for an evening of poetry and performance at the Lost in the Foxglove Open Mic, as a part of The Discover Festival
Expect an evening of creative exploration, community development, and the opportunity to expand your poetic practice in the comfort of strangers turned friends.
Lost in the Foxglove is a workshop series based on creation as the reason, not a perfected final product. The evening will begin with a poetry workshop, and followed by a series of performances from London-based poets and a musician (all to be revealed in the lead up to the event).
Whether you’ve been writing your whole life or want to try for the first time, this event is for you! Let’s celebrate the ways that creativity can bring us together and lead us to new artistic skill along the way. This is a space for anyone of any background to participate, experiment, and write in an interactive, low-pressure environment.
Lost in the Foxglove programming is FLINTA-run & focused but everyone is always welcome (just please come prepared to respect the space)! Saturday 25th July is Trans Pride, and with this in mind, we are particularly interested in showcasing work from trans poets and performers. If you are joining us straight from London Trans Pride, please know there will be plenty of space to rest and recover - with some poetry and music for your enjoyment!
What does Lost in the Foxglove mean? Foxglove flowers represent the ethereal, double meanings, pride, and creativity. We want to let ourselves explore the potential of ‘what if’ and create as a new pathway develops rather than focusing on where we will end up.
