Omitted: Film Screening

  • St. Margaret's House 21 Old Ford Road London, England, E2 9PL United Kingdom (map)

Omitted is a docu-style short film by The Black Curriculum that exposes the absence of Black British history and the enduring legacy of colonialism in the UK’s national curriculum.

Omitted explores what it means to grow up without your history reflected in the classroom. At its core, this film calls for a reformed education system, one that doesn’t erase, but includes. One that doesn’t silence, but represents.

Featuring powerful insights from the voices of, Lavinya Stennett – Founder & CEO, The Black Curriculum, John Dower – Acclaimed Film Director, Augustine John – Longstanding Equality & Human Rights Campaigner and more.

The film is only the beginning… Join us for an evening of discussion, debate and action planning as we unpack what education should look like and how it has fallen short. Your voice matters too.

“Omitted” is more than a film - it’s a call to action.

The Black Curriculum is a social enterprise founded to address the Eurocentricity in local and national curriculums.

Our programmes are for all young people aged 3-25

We aim to equip young people with a sense of identity and the tools to navigate a diverse landscape.

We aim to embed Black history in the English national curriculum, including a wide range of contextual examples of Black British histories.
