St Margaret's House comes to life this November with the Southern African Takeover - featuring a workshop and live performance by Otto and the Mutapa Calling. The London-based marimba band plays and teaches joyous traditional music from Zimbabwe, South Africa and Botswana.
The afternoon kicks off at 12 o'clock with a lively workshop exploring traditional music from southern Africa. Participants will have the opportunity to play the marimba, djembe, sing and dance. The workshop is open to all levels, it is aimed at adults but your children are welcome to watch. Workshop participants will have the opportunity, if they wish, to perform what they learned later in the day.
From 1:30pm, St Margaret's House will be buzzing with market stalls, Southern African board games, art and music. We encourage concert-only ticket holders to arrive at this time to soak up the atmosphere.
Live entertainment kicks off at 2:30pm with Otto and the Mutapa Calling playing from 3pm.
The show finishes at 5. There will be the opportunity for a Q&A with the band and the event finishes at 5:30pm.
