Touching Palms with Grief: Social Screening & Celebration

  • St. Margaret's House 21 Old Ford Road London, England, E2 9PL United Kingdom (map)

Touching Palms with Grief is an exhibition and event programme exploring the complex ways we cope with loss. It invites us to reflect on how we can touch on such a difficult subject gently, opening ourselves to the potential for feeling and healing when it is much easier to turn and run the other way. The exhibition showcases artwork and writing from the recent Student Grief Zine and photography stills from the short film Floating on Blue. Throughout the programme, there are opportunities to come together, see the film, reflect, and celebrate.

We invite you to join us on the evening of April 20th, from 5.30-8.30pm, for a short informal talk and screening of Floating on Blue followed by an evening of celebration with a bar and DJ. Talk by artist and Founder of The Student Grief Network, Anna May, with tunes spun by Ghadimi. Watch the trailer and find out more about the film here. Please register for a free ticket below. Talk and screening to take place 6-6.30pm, so please arrive promptly if you’re looking to join this part of the evening.

The Chapel will also be open in the afternoon, from 3-5pm, as we recognise that some people may want to see the work and take some time without any big talk or social. We’ll be screening Floating on Blue on a loop and there will be art materials and prompts to reflect and create in your own time if you would like to.

To find The Chapel, walk through the exhibition to the back of St Margaret’s House.
