Gentle Exercise at Sonali Gardens

Supporting the health and wellbeing of service users of Sonali Gardens Day Centre through gentle exercise.

Since 2022, we have been delivering gentle exercise sessions for service users at Sonali Gardens Day Centre in Shadwell, providing accessible and enjoyable exercise sessions for those who use the care facilities.

Thanks to funding from Sport England from 2022-24, we worked with the St Hilda’s East LinkAge Plus Coordinator at Sonali Gardens to provide weekly exercise sessions that are suited to older people with a range of access needs and mobilities. Our practitioner guides the group through a range of gentle movements that encourage flexibility, warm the joints and support mobility. Carers and staff are also warmly invited to join in, using this time as a moment to be mindful and connect to the body.

We are delighted to be continuing to provide these outreach sessions and support the development of the creative wellbeing offer at the centre. In the Spring term 2026, we will also be supporting the delivery of music therapy sessions at Sonali Gardens through working in partnership with Nordoff & Robbins Music Therapy.
