But, Still

  • The Chapel at St. Margaret's House 21 Old Ford Road London, England, E2 9PL United Kingdom (map)

An exhibition of landscapes, still lifes and street scenes on film from London-based photographers Alex Krook and Mischa Frankl-Duval

But, Still brings together London-based photographers Alex Krook and Mischa Frankl-Duval for their first exhibition. Alex and Mischa met at university many years ago. This show fulfills a long-held promise to show some of their pictures together.

Alex and Mischa have been taking photos for a long time. Alex started photographing her friends on her dad’s film cameras as a teenager; Mischa learned from his mum at around the same time.

About Alex:

Alex’s pictures have been published online, in print and in feature films, and you can find her portraits of authors in the back of many novels. Alex is showing a spectrum of quiet moments shot on 35mm, including a compost still life in her mum’s kitchen, a double exposure in the Georgian mountains, and portraits of loved ones in Tokyo, New York and rural Ireland.

About Mischa:

Mischa enjoys taking large cameras to impractical places. He has written on photography and fine art for a number of magazines and newspapers, and is now a poacher turned gamekeeper. Mischa is showing a series of landscapes shot on medium-format and 35mm film, mostly in the US and Argentina.

Mischa likes Alex’s soft and naturalistic style, and the fact she can make delicate scenes and introverted people look magnificent in photographs. Alex likes how Mischa can make a unique frame of even well-known landscapes, and that his pictures of enormous vistas feel both quiet and personal.

Alex and Mischa will be selling prints to raise money for Médecins sans frontières.
