Community-Centred Approach

Our community-based model fosters genuine connection whilst enabling us to offer treatments at more affordable rates, making acupuncture accessible to everyone who needs it. We believe that healthcare should be a right, not a privilege.

Your Initial Consultation and Treatment

Your first appointment begins with a comprehensive consultation where we explore your health concerns and medical history in detail. Our diagnostic approach incorporates traditional Chinese medicine techniques, including pulse diagnosis and tongue examination, which provide valuable insights that inform your individualised treatment protocol.

During the treatment phase, sterile, single-use needles are carefully inserted at specific acupuncture points. We encourage patients to focus on deep, relaxed breathing to enhance the therapeutic response. Many patients find the experience deeply restorative, often achieving a state of profound relaxation during the session. This sense of calm and wellbeing frequently extends well beyond the treatment itself, contributing to the overall therapeutic benefit.

Your acupuncturist

Health Tree Acupuncture was established by John Philbin in 2001. With over 25 years of practice in central London, John brings a wealth of experience from working across multiple settings, including private practice and NHS hospitals and hospices, where he helps patients manage chronic conditions, pain, and stress.

John's clinical experience spans treating chronic pain, migraines, fertility challenges, and stress-related conditions. He has specialised training in Dr. Tan's Balance Method, offering immediate pain relief for many patients. As a strong advocate for integrative healthcare, John combines traditional Chinese medicine with Western medical insights to provide the most effective treatment possible.

Beyond his clinical work, John is actively involved in community health initiatives. He contributes to acupuncture projects for stroke rehabilitation through the Stroke Project and provides breast cancer support through Macmillan. His commitment extends far beyond individual treatment—he believes in using acupuncture as a powerful tool for positive social change and community wellbeing.

John's approach is rooted in compassion and social impact, with a clear mission: to make holistic health accessible and transformative for individuals and communities alike. He thrives in collaborative practice environments where healthcare professionals work together for the greater good.
