How Not to Touch the Moon

  • The Chapel at St. Margaret's House 21 Old Ford Road London, England, E2 9PL United Kingdom (map)

Imagined touch in the era of the 'lunar gold rush'. This exhibition of printing plates by Hoagy Houghton explores our creative relationship with the moon.

What does it mean to look at the moon? As the Harvest Moon begins to wane, join artist Hoagy Houghton as he expands this question through his first solo show - a printmaking exhibition without the prints!

As we enter the era of the 'lunar gold rush' and the potential first steps towards mankind colonising of the moon, Houghton encourages audiences to hold close their creative relationship with our lunar companion. We are at a tipping point where humanity's understanding of the moon as a cultural keystone may be overshadowed by the cold exploitation of its resources. In the chapel space of St Margarets House, where many have looked to the heavens for spiritual guidance, Houghton asks us to consider how our relationship with the moon is about to change.
