Tapestry - Part Two

  • The Gallery Cafe at St. Margaret's House 21 Old Ford Road London, England, E2 9PL United Kingdom (map)

A live improvised session exploring shared creation, embracing unexpected patterns and encouraging connection through experimentation.

Following the success of our first 'Tapestry' event, Onesixfour invites you to 'Tapestry - Part 2', the second instalment of our initial 3-part live art series hosted by St. Margaret's House.

The first event was an unbelievable success, and we learned a lot through it. For this next one, we are adapting the structure to move away from singular performances that flow into one another, and are instead presenting a live, freeform, improvised session that combines different sounds and approaches. The event will be a vibrant tapestry of creative expressions weaving through one another to create a wider collective creation.

What is Tapestry? A tapestry is formed from many threads crossing, overlapping, and supporting one another to create a single artwork.

Within this context, Tapestry is:

  • A space that embraces openness, experimentation, and diversity.

  • Encouragement of unexpected patterns and connections.

  • A creative approach that allows new forms and moments to emerge from shared creation.

  • A practical way for likeminded people to follow their curiosity.

How the event works: Instead of a series of individual performances being tied together, 'Tapestry - Part 2' is framed as a live improvisation session, that will focus on a smaller group of artists - all from different backgrounds and with different approaches - creating sound live together. The artists involved will range from electronic to instrumental backgrounds, and they will provide a continuous backdrop. Vocalists, poets and even movement-based performers will be invited to join in as the session develops, adding their own unique creative expression to the performance. This overlapping structure encourages listening, responsiveness, and collaboration, shifting the focus away from individual showcase and toward collective experience.

Who is this for? Tapestry is open to all ages, and everyone is welcome. There will be a curated group of sound artists and vocal artists, however we are still open to singers, poets, dancers, and producers getting involved. As we will already have a group put together, including others can't be guaranteed, but if you get in touch with us we can discuss and try to get you involved. Audience members are invited not just to watch, but to inhabit the space — contributing to a temporary, living artwork through presence, attention, and participation.

At its core, Tapestry is about social art: prioritising shared creation over perfection, and embracing risk, play, and learning together. This is not about pushing anyone beyond their comfort zone, but about creating a space where comfort zones can gently intersect, sparking curiosity, connection, and inspiration.

If you would like to get involved, please either DM us on instagram (@onesixfour.collective) or send us an email (onesixfourcollective@proton.me), and we can speak with you directly.

Event schedule - From 6:30pm: DJs, drinks, and time to arrive, connect, and enjoy the space - 7pm–9:30pm: Continuous collaborative performance.

We’re excited to welcome you to the second Tapestry event!
