Join us for a new free D/deaf Cafe every last Friday of the month in the Gallery Cafe!
St Margaret's House are excited to be collaborating with Remark's Community Team, to create an inclusive and integrated space for people to come together to have conversations using BSL, whether it is your first language, you are learning or want to increase your D/deaf awareness (please note this is not a formal teaching space, but an informal session where BSL use and 'voices off' is actively encouraged). There will also be a key guest each month who will do a presentation about their work within the D/deaf Community.
The session will run from 4-7pm:
4-5:30pm: arrive and get a delicious drink from the Gallery Cafe, start a conversation, practise signing, fingerspelling etc (the Gallery Cafe is still open to the public until 5pm)
5:30pm: presentation by a key guest, typically a D/deaf professional or someone working to support the D/deaf community
6-7pm: opportunity for people to have a conversation with the key guest about their presentation, alongside further opportunities for conversation, sign practice, games etc.
Though this session is aimed at adults, if you can only attend if your child(ren) come with you, that’s absolutely fine.
The D/deaf Cafe will run from 4-7pm but feel free to drop in when you can and stay for just a short while if that’s the time you have. You’ll be able to buy hot and cold drinks 4-5pm.
We can’t wait to see you there!
