Kantha Embroidery

  • The Create Place at St. Margaret's House 29 Old Ford Road London, England, E2 9PJ United Kingdom (map)

Join our Kantha Embroidery workshop to learn traditional skills, meet others and help create community banners

This free 10-week workshop series invites you to connect with different cultures and learn the skills and techniques of kantha embroidery, one of the oldest forms of embroidery in the world. Originating in Bangladesh, this is a beautiful and meditative craft which upcycles old cloth and materials into elaborate embroidered pieces. You will learn techniques from our practitioner Shama and use your skills to contribute to making community banners to the theme of ‘Stitching stories: threading solidarity with heritage craft’

No prior experience is necessary to join this friendly and supportive group.

It’s so creative and so therapeutic - I lie in bed and think about what I can add to it next
