Come transform your personal photographs into a zine using stitch, writing and collage.
"Reclaiming The Archives" is a hands-on creative workshop exploring the ways we preserve, remember and reinterpret our personal histories. Using personal photographs, participants will create their own zine/artist book through a combination of collage, writing, stitching and image-making. The workshop invites participants to think about the photographs they have inherited, collected or taken and to consider the stories these images tell us about family, identity, memory and belonging.
We will explore how your photographs can be cut, rearranged, layered and transformed into new narratives. Throughout this process, participants will be encouraged to consider what is visible, forgotten, undocumented or what can be preserved.
No previous artistic or zine/book-making experience required. All materials and equipment will be provided, and participants are welcome to bring a selection of printed personal photographs they would like to work on.
This workshop is an invitation to slow down, look closely and make something meaningful from what we already carry with us.
