What did you do with the extra hour?

29 October 2026

For some of us, the day the clocks go back is the best of the year: a whole extra hour for free! At a time when we all feel quite stretched, an extra hour for reading, doing something practical or some exercise is like a gift. It's a reminder to make some time for ourselves. The activities at St Margaret's House are exactly that: all about taking time to invest in your health and wellbeing through taking part in an arts workshop, committing to a regular wellness treatment or movement practice and coming together with others in events to make you think or feel.

As the nights are drawing in and you want to be outside less and less, we have a broad range of activities on during the day and in the evenings to help you fight the winter blues.

Check out our What's on page for all the details, read on to find out about a special yoga afternoon, raising D/deaf awareness, crafting, times for Pilates and an exhibition, or download a list of our regular activities at the button below.

Join us on the first Friday of the month for a chance to come together to have conversations using BSL, whether it is your first language, you are learning or want to increase your D/deaf awareness.

Thinking about a knitting or crochet project you want to make as a present? Well, now might be the time to start it in a space where you can work alongside others whilst chatting. Join our Crafting is Connecting group, meeting next on Monday 9th November.

This exhibition of printmaking by artist Jane O'Sullivan uses imagery inspired from this classic film noir, experimenting with tone and texture and creating an evocative collection of prints.

We've been working with you to find the best times and days of the week for Restorative Pilates and it's all now finalised - Sundays, 12noon-1pm and Wednesdays, 6.30-7.30pm. We hope you can make one of the classes part of your weekly routine.

Join Sarah Burgess for an afternoon of Gentle Movement, Yin Yoga and Deep Rest, helping you to rebalance your energy and restore both body and mind.

Did you know our pals across the other side of the borough, the Friends of Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park, run a brilliant range of activities, including walks, volunteering, film screenings and Pilates? Subscribe to their newsletter or check out their events page via the button below.
