This could be just what you need…

05 November 2026

Remember, remember the fifth of November. If you're marking Bonfire Night this evening or over the weekend, we hope you have a great time!

This reminds us of the contradictions of this colder season - being cosy indoors and the joy of fireworks and bonfires outside. But for many, the colder seasons can also be a lonely time and for those who've experienced bereavement, this time of year can be particularly hard.

Through everything we do at SMH, we want everyone to know they are not alone and they can come together and make new friends at our activities. If you've experienced grief, we also have particular activities that will hopefully help you begin to heal.

Read on, explore everything on our What's On page or click the button below to download a list of our weekly activities:

Join us for our monthly free art cafe of collaborative drawing and creating in The Gallery Cafe. Come with friends or come solo; stay for ten minutes or the whole two hours - whatever works for you.

Following the success of our Saturday Repair Cafes, join us for a Weekday Sewing Repair Cafe where we'll help you mend and repair a range of items. From now on we'll be offering these on the first Wednesday of December, May and August, the months there currently isn't a Saturday Repair Cafe in Tower Hamlets.

Enter The Pelvic Underground: a numinous world of transformed shoes, strange forms, shifting sounds and unexpected encounters. This immersive, multidisciplinary installation invites visitors to consider one of the most fundamental structures of the human body: the pelvis.

As part of Grief Awareness Week, this retreat offers a compassionate space to pause, acknowledge what you are carrying and explore ways to support yourself through the season. Move through reflection, writing, somatic, grief movement and sound, with time for connection and rest. The retreat is part of our regular grief movement offer including one-hour and two-hour sessions monthly.

This support group, hosted by City and East London Bereavement Service, every second Monday of the month is a place to come together with others and share your experience no matter how recent or how long ago it’s been.

Memories have a habit of arriving uninvited. In Dünyada (on earth), Mehmet Ali Nuroğlu follows a stranger through love, loss and the uncertain business of belonging. An intimate, darkly funny evening of theatre, with room to notice the moments that speak to you. Come alone or with someone you’d like to share it with.

Friday 6th November, 9pm
Sunday 8th November, 7.30pm

The Space, 269 Westferry Road, London E14 3RS
